Pastor Billy VanCamp of the Town of Queen Creek is the October 2020 Hometown Hero bestowed in the category of spiritual leadership.
“Pastor Billy lives a life much like those he serves. He works his concrete business throughout the week, loves to hunt, fish, rope, and ride,” said parishioner Marie Culpepper in her nomination of Pastor VanCamp.
“Both Heart Cry Church and Heart Cry Cowboy Church have become known in the community for the many mission-oriented projects they facilitate, continually meeting the needs of the community and less-fortunate. From delivering food to the elderly, single mothers and others in need, to providing care packages to our community’s first responders, Pastor Billy leads by example by always serving on the front line. Pastor Billy is the Chaplain for the PRCA every year at Roots and Boots.”
Pastor VanCamp is the founding pastor of Heart Cry Church (founded in 2004) and Heart Cry Cowboy Church (founded in 2012) --- both located in Queen Creek. According to Ms. Culpepper, Pastor Billy’s efforts stretch far and wide in Queen Creek and surrounding communities. Heart Cry Cowboy Church meets at Horseshoe Park and Equestrian Center in Queen Creek.
“He and Heart Cry Cowboy Church are leaders in the cowboy community in Queen Creek, by way of hosting Heart Cry Cowboy Church every Sunday at 6 p.m. at Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Center,” Ms. Culpepper explained. “Cowboy Church is also known for holding benefit roping for families in need due to tragedy in their lives. They also have held barrel races, and the annual Fall Festival @HPEC, a free event for families in the community.”
Ms. Culpepper explains Pastor VanCamp is a model citizen a part of the Town of Queen Creek. “Pastor Billy is a man of strong character, caring heart and integrity,” she said.
“He obtained his diploma of Theology from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in 2010. He is married to Lisa, with daughter, Shea still at home. His oldest daughter Paige is married to John Bolin, the Worship and Arts Pastor at Kingsland Baptist Church in Katy, TX. His son, Trey VanCamp, is a graduate of California Baptist University, is married to Jordan, and is the lead pastor of Passion Creek Church, one of Heart Cry’s Church plants.”
For Ms. Culpepper, Pastor VanCamp is on the frontlines of outreach helping those in need. “Pastor Billy leads by example by always serving on the front line,” she said. “I know I speak for many when I say that we are extremely blessed to have Pastor Billy VanCamp as our pastor, friend and community leader.”
The Queen Creek Independent, along with East Valley Institute of Technology, Sterling Services, and the Queen Creek Olive Mill salute Pastor VanCamp as this month’s Queen Creek Hometown Heroes Awards recipient.
