Litchfield Park State of the City Address moved to April

Posted

The city of Litchfield Park has chosen to move its annual State of the City Address to April, rather than February, when it is typically held.

The State of The City “was moved to April for several reasons,” City Manager Matthew Williams said in an email to The Independent.

“COVID numbers were still very high when we were planning for SOTC in February, and we wanted to do the meeting in person,” he said.

During the address, Mayor Thomas Schoaf will give a speech highlighting the city's accomplishments, challenges and goals.

Williams also said the date change was related to the Litchfield Square special election, which will be held Tuesday, May 17.

Voters will decide whether the city may sell off parcels of land located in Litchfield Square.

“We wanted to be able to provide up to date information, as well as answer questions,” about the election at the address, Matthews said.

The State of the City Address will be held 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. April 2 at The Church at Litchfield Park in  Souers Hall, 300 N. Old Litchfield Road.
