As the holiday season comes to a close, residents in Goodyear and Litchfield Park have several options for disposing of live Christmas trees, according to city officials.
In Goodyear, residents may place trees at the curb for collection on their scheduled bulk trash pickup day. Pickup dates can be found by visiting the city’s website and entering an address in the trash collection calendar.
Trees may also be dropped off for free at Sunbelt Rentals, 803 E. Van Buren St., in Avondale from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Jan. 5. The site is closed Sundays and on Jan. 1. Residents are limited to one tree per household, and all decorations, including lights, ornaments, garland and tree stands, must be removed. Trees should not be placed in green recycling containers.
Trash, recycling and bulk pickup services in both cities will be delayed by one day on New Year’s Day.
In Litchfield Park, residents can recycle live Christmas trees at an annual drop-off site in the parking lot west of City Hall, 214 W. Wigwam Blvd. The drop-off will be held the first Saturday in January, according to city officials.
Trees collected at the site will be chipped and reused as mulch and ground cover. All decorations, lights, tinsel and tree stands must be removed before drop-off.
