Goodyear girls beach volleyball team wins state title

The BASIS Goodyear girls beach volleyball team won the state championship in the inaugural season of the Canyon Athletic Association’s middle school girls beach volleyball league.

Coached by Colter Fuller, BASIS Goodyear finished first in a field that included Cambridge Academy, which placed second.

According to BASIS leadership and available records, the title is the first state championship won by a girls team in the BASIS school network.

BASIS team stated that their schools are known primarily for academics, with athletics historically playing a smaller role. The network has produced individual champions and boys team titles, but no previous girls team championships had been recorded.
