Posted

The Arizona Municipal Water Users Association has elected Goodyear Councilmember Sheri Lauritano as president of its board of directors.

Lauritano, who has served on the AMWUA board since August 2018, will lead the organization's efforts to advocate for responsible water stewardship and secure Arizona's water future for generations to come.

“The ongoing availability of water resources is a significant issue facing our state, and it is crucial that municipalities work together to confront this challenge,” said Lauritano in a press release. “I am committed to our collaborative efforts and look forward to planning and implementing innovative water policies that address the importance of water management and being good stewards of our resources.”

AMWUA is a nonprofit corporation comprised of mayors and council members representing 10 municipalities within Maricopa County, serving over 3.5 million people – more than half of Arizona's population.

The organization works collaboratively to promote sustainable water management practices that protect the state's precious water resources while supporting economic growth and prosperity.

Lauritano has served on the Goodyear City Council since 2011 and was past co-chair of the National League of Cities' Public Safety and Crime Prevention Federal Advocacy Committee and is on the Maricopa Association of Governments Domestic Violence Council.
