Gilbert Public Schools board revises 2-year-old financial report

The Gilbert Public Schools Governing Board approved a revision to its annual financial report from fiscal year 2021-22 at its Sept. 26 meeting.

The revision from two years ago relates to funds associated with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and comes in an area meant to verify IDEA “maintenance of effort” — a requirement that obligates any public education agency receiving the funds to budget and spend at least the same amount of state and local funds for the education of children with disabilities on a year-to-year basis.

The original AFR reported the district’s expenditures total for disabilities classifications was $48.38 million, while the revision put the number at $48.9 million.
