Chandler Councilmember O.D. Harris will host a 25th anniversary Sept. 11 remembrance ceremony on Friday, Sept. 11.
The ceremony will honor the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, recognize the courage of first responders and reflect on the enduring spirit of service, unity and resilience that followed the attacks, according to a city news release.
“On this 25th anniversary, we pause to honor every life taken, every family forever changed and every first responder who answered the call with courage,” Harris stated in the news release. “This gathering is a moment for our Chandler community to stand together in remembrance, gratitude and resolve. We will never forget the sacrifices made on Sept. 11, and we will continue to recognize the service and dedication of those who protect our communities every day.”
The city's news release doesn't mention any guest speakers. But a flier sent to Independent Newsmedia by Harris mentions U.S. Rep. Greg Stanton as a guest speaker.
The flier also mentions American Legion Post 35, the Chandler Chamber of Commerce, Chandler law enforcement and the Chandler Fire Department at the top, under Harris' name.
