RECOGNITION
Angels on Patrol receives congressional recognition
Posted
U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko presented a Congressional Recognition to Angels on Patrol for its work serving people in the community.
Founded in 2009 after an officer rescued children from horrific abuse, Angels on Patrol is a nonprofit that provides officer-initiated support to community members in times of crisis.
West Valley police departments that partner with the nonprofit include Avondale, Buckeye, El Mirage, Glendale, Goodyear, Peoria and Surprise.
“I am proud to recognize a great organization that has dedicated over a decade to serving people in our community in times of need,” Ms. Lesko said. “Angels on Patrol is made up of true heroes who have positively impacted over 16,000 people, including providing shelter, food, and gas cards, and assisting over 120 domestic violence survivors. Thank you to Angels on Patrol for your tireless efforts to support people in crisis and connect them to the resources they need.”
Phoenix Police Lt. Jacqui MacConnell founded the organization after rescuing three children in one of the most horrific abuse cases she had ever experienced in her career as a police officer. Since then, more than 16,000 lives have been touched by Angels on Patrol, with approximately 2,300 people helped each year in cities across the Valley, according to the organization’s website, angelsonpatrol.org.
“Not every call requires an arrest, most times it requires a crisis intervention. Officers want to help beyond their official capacity and often times reach into their own pocket to do so when they encounter barriers,” the website states. “That’s when Angels on Patrol steps in. Helping to stabilize the immediate crisis and connect families to community resources.”
