Seven individuals successfully met the April 4 filing deadline to be official candidates in Scottsdale’s City Council election this fall.
Out of the seven candidates, Scottsdale voters will elect three people to City Council. The primary election is Aug. 2, followed by a Nov. 8, general election if necessary, to elect any office that remains unfilled after the primary election.
To be elected at the primary, a candidate must receive a majority of all of the legal votes cast for that candidate’s race.
The candidates are:
Pamela Carter
Barry Graham
Daniel Ishac
Kathy Littlefield, an incumbent
Tim Stratton
Solange Whitehead, an incumbent
Raoul Zubia.
Littlefield is seeking re-election to a third and final term as councilor, while Whitehead is seeking re-election to a second term.
City Councilwoman Linda Milhaven has reached term limits, thus creating the third open seat at the dais.
Scottsdale residents must be registered to vote by Tuesday, July 5, to be qualified to vote in the primary election. To vote in the general election, the registration deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 11.
Primary election ballots will be available beginning Wednesday, July 6.
Maricopa County voters can cast a ballot at any vote center, which will be open July 6-Aug. 2.
