The American Builders and Contractors Supply Co. Inc. industrial development is to be constructed on the south side of the 1000 block of West First Avenue and the east side of the 100 block of South Beverly in Mesa.
Three storage buildings are to be added at an American Builders and Contractors Supply Co. Inc. industrial development on 8 acres south of Main Street and west of Extension Road in Mesa.
The Mesa Design Review Board on Sept. 10 discussed the development’s look and landscaping.
The site plan shows three new storage buildings — the 15,000-square-foot Building A, 8,800-square-foot Building B and 8,000-square-foot Building C, Staff Planner Kwasi Abebrese said during the meeting.
“So the site is currently developed with seven existing buildings and three of these buildings will be demolished to make way for the new development,” he said.
Arc One Associates is the applicant. American Builders and Contractors Supply Co. Inc. is the owner.
The applicant operates a distributorship for select exterior and interior building products at the existing general-industrial-zoned site and seeks to add three storage buildings, according to a written project narrative from Arc One Associates.
“Our facility is designed primarily for storage purposes, with a significant portion of the operations involving the handling and maneuvering of heavy trucks and equipment. Due to the nature of our operations, it is imperative that the exterior views from the street are enhanced for aesthetic and security reasons, while interior views are minimized to prevent potential hazards and ensure operational efficiency,” it states.
The all-volunteer Mesa Design Review Board is unique in that its composition is set by the zoning ordinance to include two architects; two from other design professions such as landscape architecture, engineering, urban planning, interior design or other design-related background; one contractor or developer; and two residents, according to the city’s website.
