Peoria will have two contested seats in the 2022 election for city council — one for mayor and the other for the Acacia District, located in the southern part of the city.

Former council member Bridget Binsbacher, who stepped down from her seat April 4 to run for the office, and newcomer Jason Beck will fight it out for the mayor’s office.

And incumbent Vicki Hunt will go against newcomer Jennifer Crawford to represent the Acacia District.

The election is Aug. 2, with a runoff election on Nov. 8, if necessary.

Peoria Councilor Michael Finn is running unopposed to retain his seat representing the Palo Verde District and Councilor Denette Dunn is also running unopposed to retain her seat representing the Pine District.
