Woman dies after crashing through block wall in Goodyear

Posted

A 20-year-old woman died Saturday after the car she was driving crashed through a block wall and into the garage of a home in Goodyear, police said.

The crash occurred at about 3:55 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, in the 1900 block of South 174th Lane.

Family members called police about 2:40 p.m. after Helen Guzman-Vasquez made suicidal threats at their home, located about a half-mile from the crash scene, and left in a black Q50 Infiniti 4-door sedan, police said, adding that officers were still at the home when the crash occurred.

Authorities said the car was speeding when it hit the wall and crashed into the garage. No one was at home at the time of the crash.

Goodyear firefighters removed Helen Guzman-Vasquez from the car, and she was taken to Abrazo Hospital West where she was pronounced dead.
