Jamba, McAlister’s Deli coming to Goodyear

Posted

Goodyear City Council has cleared the way for a new Jamba and McAlister’s Deli to take up residence near McDowell Road and Palm Valley Boulevard.

The smoothie joint, formerly known as Jamba Juice, and the sandwich chain will operate out of the same 4,598-square-foot building with two separate drive-thru lanes.

Focus Brands is the parent company of both Jamba and McAlister’s, and this location will be the first of its kind for the corporation that also owns Schlotzsky's, Cinnabon, Moe's Southwest Grill and Auntie Anne's.

“This is actually the first dual-concept that we’re doing in the whole county,” said Kirk Farrelly of Capital Growth Buchalter, which is developing the site. “We’re hoping to replicate this in other...municipalities, cities in this area,” he said.

McAlister’s Deli will be remote-order only, meaning customers will place their orders online or over the phone and enter the drive-thru lane when their food is ready, according to a staff presentation at the Monday meeting.

Jamba will operate a conventional drive-thru lane, where customers place orders at the window.

Both restaurants will have indoor and patio dining options.

The proposed Jamba and McAlister’s Deli location are situated between the Palm Valley neighborhood and a large commercial center that includes a Dairy Queen, Buffalo Wild Wings, Lowes, JCPenney and Manuel’s Mexican Restaurant.

Another smoothie shop, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, is operated in the building directly adjacent to the proposed Jamba and McAlisters.

There are several medical centers nearby including the Abrazo West Campus and Adelante Healthcare Goodyear.

This will be McAlister’s third Valley location and its first in Goodyear since it began its expansion into Arizona in 2015.

Its other two locations are in Peoria and Tempe.

Jamba operates one other location in Goodyear, just six miles west of the proposed location near McDowell Road and Palm Valley Boulevard.
