The Agua Fria High School District is set to hire 52 new staff members for the upcoming Goodyear High School as construction progresses on the campus scheduled to open its doors to freshmen in fall 2025.
The 52 job openings will fill the entire campus with newly placed teachers, coaches and support staff.
The school's opening is planned to align with phases of construction starting with a groundbreaking ceremony held on May 16, where school and community leaders celebrated the beginning of the project.
The new campus, at the northwest corner of Cotton Lane and Van Buren Street, initially will accommodate 450 students, with plans to expand to a total capacity of approximately 2,000 students as funding allows. The school will feature traditional high school amenities, including classrooms, sports fields, a theater, and a gym and continue to expand after its opening.
Enrollment for incoming freshmen from the Class of 2029 will begin in mid-January 2025, and open-enrollment applications will be accepted from December 2024 to January 2025, allowing students from any area to attend.
An official update on the school’s progress will be provided at the next board meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 13.
