Goodyear’s Heart & Sole run goes virtual
Annual race kicks off Feb. 1

February is all about the heart — it’s American Heart Month, Valentine’s Day is coming up, and the city of Goodyear’s 2021 Heart & Sole race will encourage residents to run “together” apart.
This year’s virtual 5k or 1-mile walk/run will give families added flexibility to participate safely at their leisure.
Runners can complete the race any day at any time in February. All registrants will receive a swag bag with a long-sleeved race shirt, event cinch bag and finisher’s medal.
Packets will be available via drive-thru at Goodyear Community Park, 3151 Litchfield Road, from 11 a.m. to noon Fridays, Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26 and March 5.
To avoid long lines, residents can sign up for a pickup time by visiting goodyearaz.gov/events and clicking on the Virtual Heart & Sole 5K and 1 Mile link.
After clicking the Register tab, racers can download the RaceJoy app to receive their digital bib and track their race results. Racers also can submit results online on the signup page.
Participants also are asked to post photos of their runs, hashtagged #solesquad, on Facebook and Instagram.
