Cindy Mcmurrin, of The Goddard School in Goodyear, was recognized with the 2024 Goddard Schools Teacher of the Year Award.
The Goddard School, recognized Mcmurrin for her commitment to development in the classroom, “Mcmurrin is always offering advice to parents on how to help infants reach important milestones,” stated the organization. “She’s constantly engaged in learning activities with her students and goes above and beyond in keeping families updated about their child’s progress.”
Mcmurrin joins 15 other teachers nationwide who were selected from more than 6,600 nominations for embodying competence, leadership, creativity, and a nurturing demeanor. All 16 regional winners created strong bonds between home and school and incorporated their own passions into their teaching while continuing to ensure the health and safety of their students, according to Goddard.
“At Goddard, we are focused on nurturing teachers’ growth and empowering their success,” said Dr. Lauren Loquasto, senior vice president and chief academic officer, GSL. “All of the Teacher of the Year honorees exemplify Goddard’s commitment to providing a rewarding career where educators are encouraged to bring their creativity to the classroom and are truly valued and supported. We appreciate how these teachers love what they do while preparing their students for the next stages in both their academic and life journeys, and we can’t thank them enough for their commitment to their school communities.”
In addition to being named a 2024 Teacher of the Year, GSL gifted each of the regional winners a $1,000 cash award and dedicated a custom set of Life Lesson Library books, Goddard’s exclusive social-emotional development program, to each school in the teacher’s name.
“This recognition is a testament to the passion and commitment that all of us in the Goddard School family share for nurturing young minds, and I’m deeply honored to receive it,” said Mcmurrin. “Witnessing the growth and development of my students brings me immeasurable joy, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to play a role in their journey.”
