Goodyear’s focus on business-friendly customer service and attracting companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, Dick’s Sporting Goods, REI, United Parcel Service, Ferrara Candy Co., Fairlife and many others earned the city 2020 Best City for Business honors from the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“It is an honor that our valued partners would select the city of Goodyear for the Best City for Business award,” Mayor Georgia Lord said. “Through years of planning and hard work we have created a culture that companies, both big and small, want to be a part of. The city’s growth is not only a big win for Goodyear, but a catalyst for the entire West Valley.”
The annual award is given to a city or town that shows it can drive economic development, reduce regulatory burdens on business and work with the business community to improve the local quality of life.
“Goodyear more than fills those shoes,” said Glenn Hamer, chamber president and CEO, who presented the award virtually Oct. 14 during the annual Chamber Awards Luncheon.
“On behalf of Arizona job creators, we want to thank the city’s leadership and commitment to creating an environment where communities can flourish, and businesses can grow and thrive,” Mr. Hamer said.
Goodyear is one of the fastest-growing communities in the nation. In addition to its many businesses, it also is the spring training home of Major League Baseball’s Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds.
