While the cities of Goodyear and Litchfield Park will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day, the closure won’t affect trash, recycling and bulk pickup schedules in either city.
Residents in each city are asked to ensure their cans are at curbside by 6 a.m. on their regular pickup day.
Federal and state offices, banks, schools and libraries all will be closed, as will Independent Newsmedias offices.
Residents are advised to check with local businesses to determined their holiday hours.
Maricopa County’s regional parks will be open and the day-use entry fee of $7 per vehicle will be waived.
“It’s such a privilege to serve military families on and surrounding Luke Air Force Base,” said Maricopa County Supervisor Clint Hickman, District 4.
“We are always looking for ways to show our gratitude to the sacrifices military families have made, and we are honored to be able to make this small gesture of providing free parks entrance on Military Service Appreciation Day.”
