Goodyear Airport’s hub is building out a 28-acre expansion

The city of Phoenix city council approved land lease expansions to the Phoenix Goodyear Airport area on Feb. 7.

The city of Phoenix owns and operates the land and airport located in the city of Goodyear.

In one agenda item, the council approved an expansion for an air cargo facility on approximately 28 acres of vacant land.

The infrastructure build-out will cost approximately $40 million. The proposed cargo facility may include storage facilities, maintenance and repair facilities, or other general aeronautical uses.

The initial lease term will be 35 years, with a 10-year renewal option to be exercised at the sole discretion of Phoenix’s aviation director.

After the lease execution, developers have 24 months to construct improvements before ground rent commences.

Rent for the first year of the lease will be $414,691 per year.

Additionally, the city council approved a 60,000-square-foot lease expansion for aircraft parking space and a 24,500-square-foot expansion for a fuel farm to increase fueling capacity.

The tenant, Lux Air, will make improvements to both premise locations at a total estimated cost of $1.25 million.

Lux Air provides a range of ground support assistance for all aircraft types, which services jet traffic  nearby West Valley sports hubs.
