Fernandez and Altherr pull ahead in early LD32 Senate race results

The preliminary results are in for legislative district 23’s senate race. According to the Secretary od State's website, Brian Fernandez is pulling ahead with the democratic voters and Michelle Altherr is taking the lead among republicans .

Incumbent Fernandez is ahead in democratic polling at 60.6% leading by 1,990 democratic ballots cast. Fernandez is being trailed by Jesus Arnulfo Lugo Jr. with 39.4% of democratic votes.   

Republican nominee Michelle Altherr, running unopposed within her party, has 8,719 votes.

The nominees are vying for one seat in Arizona’s upper legislative body, the state senate. As senators, the nominees will have the opportunity to sponsor and pass bills on public policy, set spending levels and vote on issues that matter in the communities they represent in a two-year term.

These preliminary results are only counting mail in ballots and votes made in person will continue to be counted and verified.
