Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee will visit a Glendale elementary school in honor of National Financial Literacy Month and National Teach Children to Save Day.

Yee will visit third-graders at Marshall Ranch Elementary School, 12995 N. Marshall Ranch Drive, Glendale, in the Peoria Unified School District, to discuss the importance of wise money management while the students paint ceramic piggy banks.

The Arizona State Treasurer’s Office is the central state agency responsible for promoting financial education statewide. The earlier a child understands the basic concepts of money management, the more likely they'll be able to develop long lasting behaviors.

Reports indicate a child’s saving and spending habits are established at an early age, even as early as preschool, a press release notes.

Yee appointed the first-ever statewide Financial Literacy Task Force aimed at ensuring all Arizonans can attain proficiency in basic money management. The Arizona State Treasurer’s Office operates the Financial Education Portal, which has free resources and games to help children learn about money management and savings.
