Mecum Auctions is set to return to State Farm Stadium March 18-22, where an estimated 2,000 vehicles will cross the auction block.
After introducing it at The World’s Largest Collector Car Auction in Kissimmee, Fla., Mecum Auctions is bringing The Adventure Zone to Glendale. With an automotive focus, the kid-friendly area presents activities for children of all ages, featuring a Power Wheels course, car cutouts and more.
Gates to the auction open at 8 a.m. daily, with Road Art starting at 9 and the car auction beginning at 10.
Last year, the Mecum Glendale auction saw overall sales totals eclipse $54 million as 942 classic and collector vehicles sold throughout the event, headlined by the $1.8-million sale of a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Coupe. The event drew consignors from 38 different U.S. states and bidders from all 50 U.S. states, as well as from other countries.
Several private collections will be offered at Glendale 2025, including a rare collection of vintage Sterling trucks dubbed the Timber Crest Farms Collection. This collection showcases more than 100 years of heavy hauler history, dating back to 1917 with a Sterling 2.5 Ton Truck;. The assemblage also features an outlier 1956 Peterbilt 351 Truck.
Collection owner Ronald Waltenspiel spent many years collecting and restoring this group, starting when he acquired a 1939 Sterling JC137 Truck. Now featuring more than a dozen Sterling haulers, the entire collection has been restored to factory-original specifications, and all are being offered at no reserve. Sterling built only 12,000 trucks in a 50-year period.
Also making its way to Mecum Glendale is a 1969 Ford Mustang Fastback custom built for SEMA. This Pony car, known as "The Real Thing," is a high-performance masterpiece built over a five-month period by Bodie Stroud of BS Industries.
Under the hood is a 494 CI Boss Can-Am aluminum-block V-8 engine—one of 10 that were originally part of Holman Moody’s program to power Mario Andretti’s M6B McLaren Can-Am racer. It is paired with a Tremec T56 Magnum 6-speed manual transmission and a McLeod clutch.
Exotic cars from Ferrari, McLaren, Maserati and more will cross the Mecum Glendale block as well. On that list are several Ferraris, including one of 999 2023 Ferrari 812 Competiziones and a 2022 Ferrari 812 GTS in a special-ordered color combination. There also is a 2016 McLaren 675LT Spider, finished in Volcano Red, with 830 miles on the odometer.
The Adventure Zone includes several larger Power Wheels for older children to test their skills on the tracks. Additionally, there will be coloring contests, slot car racing, and kids will can paint their own miniature cars.
