Two candidates on the Democratic ticket this year are hoping to unseat incumbent Republican Abe Hamadeh, who is running unopposed, from the reliably red 8th Congressional District.

The race pits newcomers Bernadette Greene-Placentia against Raymond Keeler.

They will take on each other in the Democratic primary July 21.
