Hike in Peoria in memory of loved ones

An upcoming West Valley hike will go a long way to support families who have lost loved ones.

The 11th annual Hike for Hope celebrates the mission of Billy’s Place, a Glendale nonprofit that offers free resources and support for kids and adults who have suffered the loss of a family member or close friend.

Billy’s Place has groups that include family groups for kids who have lost a sibling, parent or significant person in their lives, Young Adult Groups, Adult Men and Women’s Groups, a kids-only kicking back night and a Traumatic Loss group which are those who have lost a loved one due to suicide, drug overdose, or homicide.

The theme of this year’s hike is Shining a Light on Grief, and the event takes place Saturday, March 2 at Copper Hills Church, 27035 N. Black Rock Blvd., in Peoria. Open registration will start the day between 8 and 10 a.m.

Fees are $40 for adults and $20 for kids, and include a T-shirt and all the day’s activities, which includes experiencing therapy animals, music, raffles, activities, food, fitness, and more. The event is pet friendly.

All hikers will start at the registration table anytime between 8 and 10 a.m. and then move through the activities and the self-guided hike with their group at their own pace. You'll need about an hour to complete the hike.

Billy’s Place is located at 21448 N. 75th Ave., Suite 5, in Glendale.
