Glendale will begin a Green Living Series later this month with multiple classes at the Glendale Main Library, 5959 W. Brown St.
All classes will offer a free seed, plant and book exchange. Participants should bring some seeds, low-water use plants, or gardening books to exchange with others or find a new plant to take home.
Grow the Urban Forest is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 22.
Trees are allies. Learn about the benefits of trees, and how to plant, water, and prune a tree. Certified arborist Cathy Rymer will share everything you need to know about proper tree care and overview more than 30 trees to help you choose a suitable tree for the Arizona Desert.
Stormwater Basics & Passive Rainwater Harvesting is from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4.
This is a two-part class. Only rain in the storm drain. Learn about the city’s stormwater system and how we can work together to keep our waterways clean. And, learn about the importance of rainwater harvesting, and how adding simple earthworks around plants can create a healthy landscape.
Active Rainwater Harvesting is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16.
