Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone, the Arizona Business Education Coalition, and the Arizona School Administrators will host the third School Safety and Security Summit in Glendale.

The event brings together global and national experts from education, law enforcement, physical security and behavioral health along with policymakers to discuss best practices in securing local school campuses and keeping students and faculty safe.

The summit will take place 4-8 p.m. Sunday, April 23; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, April 24; and 8:30 a.m.-noon Tuesday, April 25, at the Glendale Civic Center, 5750 W. Glenn Drive.

Keynote speakers include Penzone; Kris Mayes, Arizona Attorney General; Jody Weis, Former FBI SAC and Chicago Police Department superintendent; Shannon Keys, National Threat Assessment Center, U.S. Secret Service; Dr. Leigh Wall, superintendent, Santa Fe Independent School District, Santa Fe, Texas; Katey McPherson, director professional development, Bank for Schools; and Mac Schachter, Safe Schools for Alex founder and executive director.

“This is a call to action,” said Dick Foreman, Arizona Business & Education Coalition president and CEO in a news release. “We can, collectively, defy these horrific events together, united for our schools, our communities and most importantly our dearest charges, our children in a classroom. We cannot and must not become complacent or resigned. We can and will respond together in our collective demand for safer schools.”
