Glendale slates Stand Up for Veterans event date

Posted

The countdown is on for the 2026 Stand Up for Veterans event, hosted by the Mayor’s Military Mission.

Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers created this annual event more than a decade ago to lend a helping hand to those who served and protected freedom in the United States Armed Forces.

This past week, Triple M met at the VFW Post #1433 in Glendale to begin planning for this year’s event.

“Because of the courage and sacrifice of our Veterans, we are able to enjoy the freedoms we cherish today,” Weiers stated in a press release. “We owe them our deepest gratitude for protecting our country through generations.”

Hosting this annual event is one way to say thank you to our Veterans. They have fought for us, now it’s time we fight for them. Each year, I am amazed more than I was the year before, with the sheer number of volunteers, non-profits, and businesses, who come out to make this event a success,” Weiers stated.

Stand Up for Veterans provides support and connections to vital services for veterans, active-duty service members, and their families.

This year’s event will be held in a new location in downtown at the Glendale Civic Center, located at 5750 W. Glenn Drive.

A collaborative effort brings together government agencies, nonprofit organizations, employers, legal professionals and healthcare providers; all focused on addressing the real-world needs of those who have served. Attendees can receive assistance with gaining new employment, housing, legal matters, navigating benefits available and other areas that impact quality of life.

Triple M is a volunteer committee based in Glendale, founded with a commitment to honoring and supporting those who serve and have served in the armed forces. What started as a small group has evolved into a community-wide movement.
