In May 13, Mayor Jerry P. Weiers, the Glendale City Council, Glendale Parks and Recreation Director John Kennedy, and members for the architecture and construction companies helped cut the ribbon on re-opening Heroes Regional Park.
The $22 million project on 30 acres broke ground a year earlier. It features eight new pickleball courts, the city’s first lighted synthetic field, two natural grass multi-use fields, a dog park, a play structure and additional parking spaces.
“We are always promoting healthy lifestyles within our great city,” stated Weiers in a press release. “Heroes Regional Park offers amenities across the board for all ages. With this recent upgrade, the park now features more shaded playgrounds for children of all ages, numerous athletic fields, including the city’s first synthetic turf field and two natural grass fields.

Heroes Regional Park is on 81 acres Park on the northeast corner of Bethany Home Road and 83rd Avenue.
The park has a four-acre lake, a splash pad, an archery range, basketball courts, an X-court for skaters and bikers and a large picnic area.
“And on top of all of that, the park is also home to eight brand-new pickleball courts, as well as a dog park for your furry friends," Weiers stated.
