Glendale provides online portal for new city services

System supports social distancing efforts

The city of Glendale in January launched SmartGov, a new portal for local businesses.

The portal allows for an online and socially distanced option to apply for and renew local business licenses. Glendale has added this new option to its list of tech-forward services for residents, businesses and visitors alike.

Glendale’s advances in tech-forward services includes a bus tracking app for the Glendale Urban Shuttle (GUS), a redesigned website, GlendaleOne and more. With SmartGov now added, local business owners can manage their business licenses in an efficient and socially distanced way.

“I have had a lot of experience with business licensing and am very excited for this new and infinitely better process,” former vice mayor and current Downtown Glendale business owner Yvonne Knaack stated in a news release. “It takes most human error out and educates on the regulations and requirements in an orderly and precise manner. I encourage businesses to utilize this portal to build successful and compliant enterprises.”

SmartGov speeds up the transaction process for new and existing businesses. However, for businesses interested in a less digital experience, the city has also keep the traditional process in place. Just as citizens can still make service requests by phone or in person, local business licenses can still be applied for at the Glendale City Hall, 5850 W. Glendale Ave., without creating an online SmartGov account.

To apply for or renew a business license with this new service create an online account in the city of Glendale’s SmartGov portal. Established businesses will use an access code supplied by the city to link the new online account to their existing license.

Businesses interested in this service should email taxlic@glendaleaz.com or contact customer service at 623-930-3190.
