Glendale likely to avoid harsh CAP water supply cuts, for now

Lake Powell, Lake Mead levels could trigger emergency actions

Glendale is on track to emerge from the latest round of Federal Bureau or Reclamation cutbacks to Colorado River water distribution without having to tap into much of its stored water.

But that sense of relief will be temporary for the city — and indeed the rest of Arizona — if the levels at Lake Mead and Lake Powell continue to dip below their current historic lows.

Lake Mead is at 26% capacity while Lake Powell plummeted to 22% capacity as of September.
