Glendale Elementary district will discuss possible school closures this year

The Glendale Elementary School District leadership and governing board are looking into a further round of school closures and/or consolidations, perhaps as early as the 2027-28 school year.

Recommendations for the 2027-28 school year are expected in January 2027 whether the lawsuit filed by GESD and three other Arizona public school districts against the state and how Arizona funds K-12 school facilities is resolved or not. February 2027 may include a reduction in force recommendation.

This year the projected enrollment of one school dipped below 500 students, while one campus rose above a 900-student enrollment. Projections for 2035 include one school with less than 400 students, four with less than 500 and four under 600 students. This year, only three campuses are expected to have less than 600 students.
