The National Center for School Mental Health honored the Glendale Elementary School District System of Care Center as its 2024 Youth and Family Partnership Award recipient.
This award is given to one exemplary organization that effectively partners with youth and families to deliver quality school mental health programming.
Assistant Superintendent for Behavioral Health and Student Services Louis Laffitte, Jr. and GESD System of Care Center Director Denis Parcells were recognized for the SoCC’s work during the 2024 Annual Conference on Advancing School Mental Health in Orlando, Fla.
GESD established the System of Care Center to provide essential, coordinated support services for students, staff, and families in the community. The SoCC addresses challenges faced by residents in the 85301, 85302 and 85303 zip codes, including high poverty rates, limited access to health and social services, and persistent barriers to achieving long-term well-being.
By addressing these disparities, the center and the district seek to create a healthier, more resilient community.
The SoCC offers a range of services, including mental health, social, educational, health, substance abuse, vocational, recreational and juvenile justice support. This is made possible through GESD’s collaboration with community partners.
Glendale Elementary's System of Care Center was founded to improve life outcomes for students and their families, supporting educational achievement and fostering stronger, healthier communities. For information, visit systemofcarecenter.gesd40.org.
