Glendale has announced the retirement of Jessi Pederson, who has dedicated nearly 20 years to advancing economic development and fostering community growth.
Pederson will leave the city to embark on a sabbatical to focus on her family and personal interests.
During her tenure, the Economic Development Department grew to include citywide special events, as well as arts and culture and tourism as part of Glendale’s approach to economic vitality.
As the Glendale bids farewell to Pederson, the city appoints Trent Dutry as the interim director of economic development. Dutry spent nearly 30 years in the sports and entertainment industry with the Phoenix Suns.
He led day-to-day operations, vendor negotiations and employee development. He most recently worked for Enchant Christmas, where he led large-scale event production and oversaw a Phoenix-based team.
Dutry holds a bachelor of science degree in business from DeVry Institute.
Lori German, deputy director of economic development, will continue to lead the daily operations of the team’s business attraction, retention, small business support and tourism efforts.
“We are incredibly grateful for Jessi’s years of dedicated service and the positive impact she has had on Glendale’s success,” Glendale City Manager Kevin Phelps stated in a press release. “As we move forward, we are confident that Trent’s leadership will drive our city’s strategic growth and success. We wish her the very best in her future endeavors.”
Pederson’s last day with the city of Glendale will be March 7.
