A Mario Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament is making its way to Phoenix.

Arizona’s Children Association has partnered with Grand Canyon University Esports and the Arizona Cardinals to announce to support the fundraiser for Arizona’s foster children.

The two-day event starts with the first tournament from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 at Grand Canyon, 3300 W. Camelback Road. The second tournament with the top 16 finalists to compete goes from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 16 at State Farm Stadium.

Gamers of all ages are invited to join in to raise money and awareness for children in foster care and those awaiting adoption.

Participants can sign up for free at the registration link at www.start.gg/tournament/arizona-cardinals-x-gcu-esports-1/details, but space is limited. Registration closes Friday, Nov. 14.

“Gaming has the ability to connect people across backgrounds and experiences, and this event is an exciting opportunity to have fun while making a meaningful impact,” Jim Van Wicklin, senior director of development and marketing at Arizona's Children Association, shared in a press release.

The tournament will feature one-on-one matches in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Nintendo’s iconic crossover fighting game that has been a fan favorite for more than two decades.

The top 16 players from Saturday will advance to a Super Smash Bros. finale on Sunday, Nov. 16, at State Farm Stadium, followed by the Cardinals-49ers game. Additional prizes include a custom trophy and a photo on the Cardinals football field.
