Cha cha lessons lead musical weekend at Glendale Foothills library

Foothills Branch Library will play host to a cha cha dance instruction session from 6:30-7:45 p.m. at the library, 19055 N 57th Ave., Glendale.

Learn the basics, and then practice your dance steps at this workshop taught by instructor Betty Jo Gregolynskyj. For ages 18 and up.

Space is limited and registration is required. Registering in pairs is recommended. Guests are asked to register each person attending.

The musical theme continues into the weekend with these two regular sessions:

  • Bluegrass Jam is from 1-3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4. Adults are invited to bring an acoustic instrument and play bluegrass, country, folk, gospel, and more round-robin style! All levels of players welcome. Audience and singers also are encouraged to attend. On the first and third Friday of each month. 
  • Then an old time music jam is from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5. This jam focuses on traditional instrumental music, including Appalachian fiddle tunes, Celtic and Canadian reels, jigs, hornpipes and other roots music. All acoustical instruments are encouraged to share in these traditional tunes: Dulcimers, fiddles, banjos, guitars, harps, mandolins, Dobros, Irish whistles, etc. Players of all ages and ability are welcome to join in.
