Cardinals buzz energizes international fan base

Diehards from other countries just as passionate about 4-0 start in Glendale

The Arizona Cardinals have a huge game in Glendale on Sunday, so naturally one of the team’s most diehard fans in the world won’t miss a minute of the live action as he tunes in on Monday.

For Syamsul Hafzan, of Malaysia, kickoff for the Cardinals’ game at State Farm Stadium against the San Francisco 49ers comes at 4:25 a.m. Monday morning, Oct. 11. While hometown fans in Glendale will just be arriving for late morning tailgating and the afternoon NFC West showdown on Oct. 10, Hafzan will rise before the sun at home, put on his red Cardinals swag, and watch the live broadcast from his couch in Malaysia.

If residents of Arizona think that’s slightly eccentric, he gets enough of that from when his fellow countrymen weigh in on his passion for American football and, specifically, the Cardinals.
