Two coaches with defensive backgrounds saw a rare meeting between sister schools Cactus and Kellis turn into their type of game.
In the 5A football playoff quarterfinal, the defense forged by a brutal schedule shined brighter than the one with standout statistics.
Cactus largely shut down the big play running duo of Kellis senior quarterback Ronald Coty III and senior running back/linebacker Tristan Bacon. The Cobras also made sure Coty's breakout as a bomb thrower was a one-week thing in the 21-6 Cactus win.
