Auto glass repair shop headed to 67th and Peoria avenues

Posted

An auto glass repair and windshield replacement facility is planned for 67th and Peoria avenues within the Crossroads Plaza center to replace an oil and lube station, according to a city document.

The Peoria Planning & Zoning Commission approved a request for a conditional-use permit to allow for the operation of Auto Glass Express in an existing 1,932-square-foot building at 6720 W. Peoria Ave.

The business has operated in a mobile capacity, however, because of technological requirements, newer automobiles require calibration due to sensors in the glass, which requires the service to be performed at a physical location, the document stated.

The facility will operate Monday through Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 7 p.m, as well as Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The business is closed Sundays.

Repairs will be by appointment only, as the glass needs to be ordered in advance of the appointment.

Alterations to the site include changes with the parking and vehicle queue as well as painting of the building

The purpose of the conditiona-use permit review was to ensure compatibility with the surrounding area, and that the business will not create a negative impact to the health, safety, and general welfare of the community.
