ADOT provides game plan for Glendale, Phoenix Final Four traffic

Posted

The Arizona Department of Transportation is not scheduling any weekend freeway projects or lane restrictions in Phoenix or the West Valley to accommodate drivers heading to Final Four basketball events.

ADOT will use freeway message boards in the Glendale area to make drivers aware of  parking lot and other traffic information, state transportation officials said Thursday.

Messages will provide tips for drivers traveling to State Farm Stadium for Saturday’s semifinal games and Monday’s championship game. The messages will appear along I-10 and Loop 101.

Glendale officials have announced parking lots at the stadium will open at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with the first game scheduled to tip off at 3:09 p.m. Drivers should consider arriving in the area early to avoid anticipated heavier traffic on I-10 and Loop 101, according to ADOT.

The Loop 101 off-ramps at Cardinals Way and Maryland Avenue near the stadium will be closed from about 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Drivers also should know there will be heavier traffic Monday afternoon on westbound I-10 and Loop 101 in the West Valley before the title game, which is scheduled to tip off at 6:20 p.m., officials said.

ADOT also announced the westbound I-10 HOV-lane exit ramp at Third Street north of downtown Phoenix will be closed 3-10 p.m. Friday for a special event at Hance Park.
