West Valley food bank steps into new, larger facility

April 2 was the last day Jesse Ramirez wanted to be stuck at home with a cold.

The founder and guiding light of Valley View Community Food Bank had to stay home from the ceremony commemorating a high point in the charity’s history — the ribbon cutting of the first building the food bank owns in Sun City. But his spirit and vision pervaded the event.

Jesse Ramirez Jr. is the executive director of Valley View and spoke of his family’s dedication to the food bank, which very much includes his mother, Rose.
