Teen sentenced to prison for Gilbert parking garage assault

Posted

A 19-year-old has been sentenced to two years in prison for assaulting a teen at a parking garage in Gilbert and other crimes, authorities said Thursday.

The crimes committed by Kyler Renner date back to December 2022, March 2023 and January 2024, according to a release from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

Renner pleaded guilty to solicitation to commit possession of narcotic drugs for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia and aggravated assault.

In December 2022, Renner assaulted a teenager at the Gilbert garage.  In the 2023 case, Renner had various drugs for sale such as fentanyl.

In police reports, Renner admitted to being a drug user, taking approximately 30 fentanyl pills per day, the MCAO release stated. In the 2024 case, Renner had drug paraphernalia in his possession.

“This defendant had a high negative influence in the juvenile community not only committing violent crimes, but also distributing dangerous drugs to the community,” Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said.
