See where Gilbert high schools ranked on national list for 2024

Gilbert Public Schools’ choice high school is the highest ranked high school in the town on U.S. News and World Report’s annual best public high schools list, which was released this week.

Gilbert Classical Academy, 1016 N. Burk St., Gilbert, ranked 14th out of 360 Arizona high schools on the list and No. 332 in the nation.

Perry High School, 1919 E. Queen Creek Road, Gilbert, in the Chandler Unified School District, is ranked No. 36 in the state and No. 2,457 in the nation.

Higley High School, 4068 E. Pecos Road, Gilbert, is the highest rated among Higley Unified School District schools at No. 4 in town, No. 45 in the state and No. 3.085 in the nation

The highest ranked charter school is American Leadership Academy Gilbert North K-12, 1070 S. Higley Road, Gilbert, at No. 7 in town, No. 56 in the state and No. 3,461 in the country.

The publication ranked nearly 17,660 out of more than 24,000 reviewed public high schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The list includes a mix of charter, magnet and traditional schools.

The overall scores are based on the following six criteria: college readiness, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rate.

Using this methodology, schools earned an overall percentile score between 0 and 100 at two decimal places, according to the report. Scores below the 25th percentile are listed with a ranking range rather than a numerical rank, and each percentile includes 177 schools, so small changes due to any factor can result in big moves within the rankings, the report said.
