Parties send candidates for LD14 Senate to primaries unopposed

Voters may recognizes the names of the two candidates running for the Arizona Senate from Legislative District 14.

Republican Warren Petersen is not only the incumbent but the Arizona Senate president. Democrat Elizabeth Brown has run for the Senate unsuccessfully twice before.

The two are unopposed in their primary elections July 30 and figure to meet in the general election Nov. 5.

Here are their biographies.

Elizabeth Brown 

Democrat Elizabeth Brown is a mother of two daughters and a grandmother of five.  

She has lived in Arizona since 1981 and has been an active community member.  

Brown worked for both Democratic Gov. Janet Napolitano and Republican Gov. Jan Brewer in the Office of Constituent Services. 

Brown ran unsuccessfully for Arizona Senate in 2016 and 2018.

Warren Petersen 

Warren Petersen is the incumbent Senator from Legislative District 14 and serves as the president of the Arizona Senate. He is a Republican. 

He was first elected to the Arizona House of Representatives in 2012 and serves the chairman of the Judiciary Committee and also on the Government, Ethics and Finance Committee. 

Petersen is a third-generation Gilbert resident. He has worked in the real-estate industry for more than 20 years, primarily in new home construction, and has owned a real estate brokerage for more than a decade. 

Petersen graduated from Gilbert High School and received his bachelor's degree from Arizona State and a J.D. from ASU Law.
