Dear Higley Community,
I am honored and humbled to be recommended as the next superintendent of the Higley Unified School District. I am so proud of the success of our students, faculty and schools, and I look forward to continuing the outstanding achievement of our District. Higley is a community district that provides limitless opportunities for all of our students by embracing our core values of being learning centered, demonstrating integrity, accepting accountability, and making connections. We will continue to engage with our most powerful partners, our families, as we develop young people into college and career ready scholars, innovative learners and responsible citizens.
Throughout my career I have held many different roles that have prepared me for this important position, beginning as a high school math teacher and basketball coach in Gilbert, growing into a site level administrator in Chandler and most recently, the executive director of secondary education and athletics here in Higley. For the past five years, I have been part of the district leadership team for the Higley district, working alongside dedicated and innovative educators that put our students at the forefront of our decisions. We will continue to focus our efforts on making Higley the absolute best place for students to thrive.
Education is a relationship-based enterprise where the most important relationship is between the teacher and the student. It is our goal to provide our teachers with the support and guidance necessary to keep their effort and energy on making sure our students are provided with limitless opportunities. To do this, it takes a village ... educators, students, families, and the community working together for the common goal of creating a culture of excellence that we can all be proud to represent. We know that there will be challenges along the way but together, we can turn obstacles into opportunities, persevering with resilience and commitment for the sake of our students. A strong public school system is the core of a strong community, and in Higley, we are dedicated to being the best. In Higley, TOGETHER, we got this!

The Higley Unified School District Governing Board has voted to enter into contract negotiations with David Loutzenheiser for the role of superintendent for the 2025-26 school year. Loutzenheiser is the executive director of secondary education and athletics for Higley Unified.
