Leapfrog assigns grades from A to F to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 measures, including errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems in place to prevent harm. Grades are updated twice a year.
“These distinctions are especially gratifying, knowing how rare it is that a facility earns them,” Mario Garner, president of Dignity Health East Valley, said in a release.
Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, said Mercy Gilbert’s consistent performance reflects a long-term commitment to patient safety.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only national ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, injuries and infections. The grading system is peer-reviewed, transparent and free to the public.
