Ted’s Hot Dogs anticipates breaking ground in January on its second Arizona location at land on Gilbert Road south of Germann Road near the Crossroads Towne Center in Gilbert.
The 97-year-old franchise only has a Tempe restaurant outside its Buffalo, New York, base, where it has nine locations.
The company has been planning a location in the area since as far back as 2017 but different obstacles, including the pandemic, have delayed the start.
Ted’s serves a “Buffalo-style” hot dog, as well as other offerings such as bratwurst, Polish sausage or a “White Hot” from Sahlen’s, a 150-year-old meat packing company in Buffalo. The order is charbroiled on a grill in front of the customer with the food dressed to his or her order.
