Letters: New recycling idea is appealing method to reuse plastic
(Re: “Recycling going 3D in 2024,” Dec. 20) Brilliant concept and much needed.
I am conscientious (some friends say “fanatical”) about recycling anything I can. I avoid buying or using plastic as much as possible, but if I want blueberries or yogurt I’m stuck. So anything that will turn plastic into something other than a waste of resources and contamination of both land and sea appeals to me immensely.
Making the fibers is step one. Next will be finding users to turn those fibers into the useful items mentioned in the article.

Separating types of recycling is simply a matter of training and habit, assuming the underlying desire exists in people, which I realize isn’t always the case. It’s long bothered me that Parks and Son accepts mixed recycling, but I presume they have their reasons and methods of disposal.
Now I want information on how to recycle polystyrene (e.g. egg cartons.) I try to buy eggs in cardboard but sometimes frugality and special offers at the supermarkets persuade me to buy in plastic or polystyrene. How moral is that on my part?
Keep up your good work in journalism. It is needed and appreciated
