HUSD implements new curriculum as retired textbooks find new use

As students return to classrooms this school year, Higley Unified School District has introduced a new English language arts curriculum for kindergarten through fifth grade students.

The curriculum, approved last year, replaces a resource that was no longer included on the state's approved list.

Before the new materials could be distributed, the district worked to remove thousands of textbooks and instructional resources from elementary school campuses. Through a partnership with Walker Bookstore, the retired materials will be resold, donated or recycled.
