Higley district recognizes top teachers

Higley Unified School District has selected first grade Dual Language Immersion English teacher Adrienne Raleigh as its Elementary Teacher of the Year and video production teacher David Nuttall as its Secondary Teacher of the Year.

Raleigh teaches at San Tan Elementary School and Nuttall at Higley High School.

Each year, one teacher from each school is selected following a nomination process, to be awarded the title of Teacher of the Year for their school.

Of those award-winners, a panel interviews and selects one overall district Teacher of the Year for elementary and secondary education.

The awards recognize those teachers who go above and beyond to bring their passion and expertise to the classroom and prepare learners for limitless opportunities. 

Here are the remaining Teacher of the Year Award winners for 2023-24:

  • Bridges Elementary: Devon Ellsworth;
  • Centennial Elementary: Dusty Schmidt;
  • Chaparral Elementary: Serina Turner;
  • Coronado Elementary: Anne Tripathi;
  • Cortina Elementary: Cindy McKeon;
  • Gateway Elementary: Taylor Miller;
  • Higley Traditional Academy: Jana Galloway;
  • Power Ranch Elementary: Michelle Bernard;
  • Early Childhood Development Center: Laryn Garrett;
  • Sossaman Middle School: Haleigh Rohner;
  • Cooley Middle School: Pam Edgar;
  • Williams Field High School: Buffy Sanchez.
