The Gilbert Education Foundation is partnering with Mountain  America Credit Union and Arizona State University’s Sun Devil Club (ASU Sun Devil Club) for a shoe donation event  benefiting Gilbert Elementary students.

Theresa Dootson, executive director of GEF, expressed her gratitude for the collaboration, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on the community. 

"We are delighted to join forces with Mountain America Credit Union and ASU Sun Devil Club for this meaningful  initiative," Dootson said in a release. "Gilbert Elementary is eagerly anticipating the arrival of these donated shoes, and the students' excitement is palpable. Giving back to our community holds tremendous significance for us at GEF, as we strive  to enrich the lives of students and educators in the Gilbert Public School District." 

Founded in 2001 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Gilbert Education Foundation has been dedicated to enhancing, supporting, and fostering innovation for students and teachers within the Gilbert Public School District for more than 23 years.

With nearly $3 million raised and contributed toward various programs and initiatives, GEF's mission is to drive positive change in education and community well-being. 

"Mountain America Credit Union and ASU Sun Devil Club have played pivotal roles in making (the) event possible, along with the incredible staff at Gilbert Elementary, enabling us to make a lasting impact on the lives of students and  educators in Gilbert Public Schools," Dootson said. 

The "Big Shoe Day" is scheduled for April 9 at Gilbert Elementary. It will feature appearances by "Sparky" the Sun Devil, and ASU athletes, who will assist in distributing the shoes, signing autographs, and interacting with the students.
